Rabies Tags & County Registration
We do not provide rabies tags at our vaccine clinics. Rabies tags (collar tags showing proof of county registration) are issued by the county where your pet lives after the rabies vaccine is given.
Under Illinois law, all dogs and cats over 4 months of age must be vaccinated against rabies by a licensed veterinarian, and owners are responsible for obtaining the appropriate county rabies tag and registration once their pet is vaccinated.
Why We Don’t Issue Tags
Our clinics focus on administering the rabies vaccine and we provide you with a rabies vaccination certificate. We do not issue county rabies tags in part because we do not know what county the cat will reside in. County rabies tags help local authorities ensure pets are up-to-date on vaccination and registered properly.
